• Spearheaded ‘Aero Shelves’ project to decrease a refrigerator’s energy consumption by 40%. Brought on new instruments/tools to the company, such as particle image velocimetry (PIV) and CFD analysis to quickly test designs and improve air curtain flow efficiency. Developed an array of heat pipes embedded within a shelf to minimize temperature variation by 2F• Led development testing in new ‘Heavy Duty’ refrigerator, which posed many challenges due to being our largest merchandiser. Evaluated and overcame structural failures such as shelf hinge buckling, excessive shelf deflection, and arm standard bending by breaking down the problem into its simplest form. New optimized design includes increasing the moment of inertia, maximizing the critical buckling load, and extending the cross-sectional area to decrease concentrated stress points• Improved manufacturing floor processes by designing and creating unique 3D printed tools that sped up curved glass installation time by 20%. Implemented tools such as Six Sigma (Green Belt), Root Case Analysis, DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5 Why's, and FMEA• Developed and led testing for Hot Air Curtain System (HACS) to hold chicken wing temperatures more effectively. The design decreases food temperature variation and cuts costs by implementing a forced air convective system which in result led to eliminating unnecessary parts such as shelf heaters• Led morning stand-up meetings to help identify key bottleneck areas that diminish testing time and OEE. Control team's testing schedule to maximize chamber space and provide metric updates to management weekly• Schedule post-testing reviews with a cross-functional team to issue punch list items and address potential areas of concern. Assign and track responsible owners to confirm items are fully resolved by given deadline• Project Manager to upgrade lab’s refrigeration system with $300k capital budget.
