Billy started his path of service by delivering pizza to hungry students at Amherst College, where he played soccer and captained the lacrosse team. With a BA in English and Asian Philosophy, he traveled the world looking for enlightenment, and found it playing guitar and harmonica in the subways of Tokyo, Paris and Milan. He wrote about his experiences for several travel publications. After his stint as a (pre) digital nomad, he worked in advertising and publishing, most recently as Sr VP of Business Development for global ad agency, Doner & Company. He left and moved to New York to launch a VC funded shelter magazine, BUYING, SELLING, & OWNING YOUR HOME. He eventually sold the publication and moved to Laguna Beach, CA.Then one day Billy "found himself" kayaking off the Laguna coastline. It ignited his passion for the outdoors, and he wanted to share the experience with others. So in 2003 he launched into the sea with La Vida Laguna, and never paddled backwards again. Billy had found his bliss, and over 21 years has sent thousands away with theirs. An avid student of the relationship between people and nature (biophilia), Billy began weaving in experiential learning to the corporate groups he led outdoors. And became a speaker on the subject.Billy has created programs for Fortune 500 companies like Apple, Microsoft, Toyota, Nike, among others, and has applied his vast entrepreneurial skills to crafting programs with meaningful outcomes and teachable moments. All in settings with profound natural beauty. As Billy likes to say, "We're in the happy endorphins business."A committed member of the Laguna community, Billy spends his off time writing opinion pieces for his hometown newspaper, The Laguna beach Independent, and hosts a weekly radio talk show with thought leaders on KXFM radio. He believes everyone has a story, and subscribes to the view of Huell Houser that he could be dropped anywhere in the world, and within a 5 mile radius find enough stories to tell for a lifetime.
