Package Owner for the location area on Symbian based phones. A wide ranging role with the primarily responsibility to evolve the location technology on Nokia products. Liaised with all levels of the company, external partners, suppliers, and members of the Symbian Foundation.Designed Nokia’s location architecture for Symbian based products. This was a major technical and diplomatic challenge involving stakeholders across the world.Member of Nokia’s high level concept team for the location area. Also work with Requirements Management to define the location roadmap. Duties include investigating the viability of new technologies and techniques. Mechanisms for substantially reducing power consumption and improving position availability are two recent studies.

Symbian developed the leading operating system for advance mobile phones of its day. Its customers were the tier 1 phone manufacturers, including Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, Fujitsu, and Sharp.In 2003, Location Based Services was a completely new technology area for Symbian. As the Technology Architect for LBS, I successfully designed and oversaw the deployment of this new technology to leading smart-phones manufacturers. The job required a wide range of capabilities including matching commercial, legal, customer, and supplier requirements. I was also responsible for the technical leadership of a team that grew from 2 people to over 30 engineers at its peak. In 2001, I was appointed Technology Architect for Telephony Adaptation. The group was responsible for integrating the Symbian OS with telephony hardware from an independent supplier. This was a major and complex engineering task and I was responsible for all aspects of requirements analysis, architecture, and ensuring the final quality of the software
