I have sales and software engineering experience. I graduated with a chemical engineering degree. from UC Riverside. Prior to graduating, I imagined working at an innovative laboratory. Instead, I ended up at a bathtub company. It may not have been what I’d dreamed of, but the start I needed.A year later, I found myself at an industry-leading protective coating company, where I formulated new products. From this experience, I learned a lot on how to reverse-engineer processes to find solutions. My years of experience as a chemist was great, but I wanted to follow my passion in martial arts. I decided to open a martial arts school. My grit accelerated my growth as a new entrepreneur and fast-forwarding 5 years I had a successful business. Then I had a life-changing event and moved to the Bay Area. With no plan, I only knew I had to get into tech. Being agile and adaptable I managed to do just that and got my foot in the door in tech sales. It was something I thrived in, but there was a void in me.During the pandemic, I decided to take a break from sales and spent a lot of time to self-reflect. With a lot of thought, I decided I wanted to learn software development to bridge my knowledge with tech and sales. Going through App Academy's rigorous program, I'm now a full stack software developer. I learned JS, React/Redux, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, SCSS, and HTML. Other skills included jQuery, SQL, Webpack, Git, Heroku, and Amazon S3 to complete numerous projects.From my journey, I understand why the first step of my professional career led me to that bathtub company. This experience and those that followed have shaped me into the analytical, methodical, and adaptable person I am today.
