ECPAT International is a global network of over 85 organizations working in 77 countries and the Country Coordinator is a senior most position responsible for managing all aspects of ECPAT’s work in Nepal and represents the organization to the government and to non-governmental organizations. This position also extended the reach of ECPAT to include other organizations (as potential ECPAT partners) and facilitates collaboration and establishment of a national coalition or forum that works towards advocating and realizing the rights of the women, children and the larger community in the country. The model that evolved and the lessons learned have been the basis for similar interventions in other countries and regions. The overall goal of this consultancy was to support the UNICEF ROSA Child Protection Section in providing technical assistance to SAIEVAC (South Asia Initiative against Violence against Children) which is a SAARC (South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation – an inter-governmental body) Apex Body to help its Secretariat strategize and strengthen capacities on child protection. KEY TASKS:The consultancy has been based on a work-plan prepared in consultation with the SAIEVAC Director General and UNICEF ROSA. This work-plan included the following major tasks, contributing to the achievement of the overall goal:  Programme management, strategic planning and technical support  Supporting the strengthening of SAIEVAC partnerships  Capacity development of SAIEVAC in child protection

KEY TASKS: Supervised the work of South Asia regional Youth Partnership Project (YPP) with a high degree of accountability and ensuring that the project is implemented properly fully adhering to the scope of the project and mandate of ECPAT International.  Coordinated the overall implementation of the project in accordance with the project design and provided guidance to the YPP National Coordinators working closely with the national partners. Worked with ECPAT groups/partners in South Asia and other I/NGOs, governments and inter- governmental agencies to promote national and regional implementation of the Stockholm Agenda for Action and the Rio de Janeiro Declaration and Plan for Action against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in the South Asia region.  Supported with the researching, collecting, compiling and analyzing information, providing analysis and reports on programme progress and recommendations on implementation strategies.

KEY TASKS: Worked with the Regional Coordinator in supporting mechanisms for collaborative work among and between the YPP project country activities, to promote regional impact and cohesiveness and to network with project partners to ensure effective working relationships.  Directly supported the National Coordinators to prepare comprehensive, accurate and timely reports as required by ECPAT International and the donor organizations in accordance with the Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation System (PMES) and Impact Indicators.  Supported the finance departments of the national partner organizations in ensuring that quarterly and annual financial reports are submitted on time and adhere to the financial reporting requirements of ECPAT International.  Direct responsibility in ensuring the YPP Child Protection Policy and Procedures Framework is working effectively and consistently in each country.  Increased roles to coordinate with the Regional Coordinator, the ECPAT International Child and Youth Advisory Committee (EICYAC) network and the EICYAC Youth representative for South Asia, consultants, and local partners in designing, arranging and holding appropriate seminars, discussions and trainings in the project countries. Represented ECPAT at the national, regional and international levels where appropriate.

KEY TASKS: Coordinated, guided and monitored the implementation of the project and all related activities in Nepal in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator (RC) and the Regional Associate (RA) of ECPAT International with primary responsibility for the project management and administration, including financial and narrative reporting from Nepal.  Ensured timely and comprehensive narrative reports of Nepal project activities in accordance with the Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation System and the impact indicators, ensuring that the project activities in Nepal adhered to the programme design, timeframe and contractual obligations and that these demonstrated the highest standards of quality.  Networked and collaborated with the GOs, I/NGOs, UN Agencies and other line and concerned agencies as well as with other stake holders in promoting the aims, objectives and the activities of the organization.

KEY TASKS: Developed and implemented organizational structures, programmes and the strategies in accordance with the goals and aims of the organization.  Directly managed all aspects of the programme including development of proposal, programme funding and implementation in line with strategic directions.  Monitored and evaluated programme activities and developed indicators to assess their impact.  Key management roles in overseeing the finance and administration of the organization  Networked and collaborated with other I/NGOs, UN Agencies and the government of Nepal.  Maintained contacts with and reporting to the Executive Committee, Overseas and local Donors and the CBRS Consultant based in the UK.

KEY TASKS: Provided technical support with developing planning and management of the organizational administration, HR and Policies, including budget and cost management.  Management of office properties, furniture, fixtures and equipments.  Supervised the administrative/support staff and coordination with them  Developed network and liaised with other organizations and the government  Planned, managed and facilitated training activities both internal and external  Regular reporting of activities to the Programme Coordinator and the Management Team.
