Teaching Yoruba language and culture is a delightful experience, a role that motivates me to do much more for the African, African American, and diaspora legacies. For years, I have been a teacher and researcher of English Language, Literature, and Communication. Being a native Yoruba speaker, who has only ever taught Yoruba to natives, I had longed to experiment with teaching an absolute foreign language the way natives acquire language. I finally got my chance with the prestigious Fulbright FLTA program and it is a life-changing experience, both for me and for my students, most of whom are of the African heritage but had no knowledge of their own heritage. As a teacher and researcher of ESL, EFL, ESP, YNL, YSL, and YFL, My career has cut across all levels from elementary through to tertiary. These experiences leave me not only with satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment, but they have also fuelled my aspiration for the advancement of global integration, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace, in society, and the global village.I anticipate more opportunities to advance the integration of black people into the world systems by being a black cultural ambassador, a teacher of the English language and literature, and Yoruba language, culture, and Literature.
