Dr. Liu has extensive research experience (>15 years) and leadership/management experience for R&D team. He has superior expertise in the R&D of electrodes (Li metal anode, Si anode, air cathode, and oxide anode), liquid and polymer electrolytes (including electrolyte additives), and underlying mechanisms (battery materials structure-property relationship, battery materials degradation, cell failure analysis, electrolyte/electrode interface, temperature dependence, and advanced characterization) for next-generation energy storage devices (i.e., Li metal batteries, Li-ion batteries, super-capacitors, Mg-ion battery, and integrated functional devices). He published 2 invited book chapters as well as > 60 papers in Nature Nanotechnol., Joule, Adv. Mater., Nano Today, Adv. Energy Mater., Nano Lett., ACS Nano, Adv. Funct. Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., etc, with total citations of over 10,700 times, H-index of 47. Within, >30 papers were selected as ESI 1% Highly Cited Papers. His studies were selected as cover image of journals (Advanced Materials, Advanced Energy Materials, Small, etc). And his research progresses were highlighted by AAAS, USA; Nature Nanotechnology; Nature Photonics; weekly RSC Publishing press pack; Chemie.DE; and Chemistry World, and CCTV 1, etc. Dr. Liu holds currently more than 20 patents. He is servicing as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Energy Research journal and Guest Editor for international journal, as well as an adjudicative reviewer or independent reviewer for over 30 international journals. He serviced as lead organizer of 258th American Chemical Society (ACS) meeting symposium. He received various awards (i.e., Elsevier Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing; The First-Class Prize of Science and Technology Award for the Year 2017 by C-MRS; FY17 Outstanding Performance Award, PCSD, PNNL; The First-Place Award Winner of Science as Art of 2015 MRS Fall Meeting; Top Ten Science and Technology Prize-Winner of Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Outstanding Figure of Huazhong University of Science and Technology; National Scholarship of Graduate Student; Outstanding Papers Awards of Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Distinguished Fellowship of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics; etc).
