I am a keen and dedicated registered nurse with 19 years of post-qualification experience in providing high quality nursing care in the UK and across the globe. Currently I'm working as an ANP in ENT. I consider myself to be a conscientious, enthusiastic professional who is committed to improving the standard of care through evidence based practice, evaluation and lifelong learning and also by analysing clinical information, evaluating practice and maintaining knowledge of current research. Recently I completed study at masters level from Edge Hill University and am an independent prescriber.Currently working as an ANP within the ENT team has given me the neccessary confidence to assess, diagnose and manage various ENT emergencies including management of epistaxis, draining of quinseys, management of pinna haematoma and other ear conditions and airway emergencies . As part of the team, I manage clinics - aural dressings, discharging ears, non-acute nosebleed , blocked nose, allergic rhinitis and tonsillectomy clinics. In tonsillectomy clinics we are responsible for assessing and consenting patients for tonsillectomies. Microsuctiion, managing acute ear infections, nasal cautery, undertaking flexible scope , nasoendoscope and skin prick test are some of my skills to name a few. In addition I am also responsible for providing out of hours on site on call activity. This entails us to manage ENT emergencies by assessing, diagnosing, managing/treating and admitting/discharging ENT patients in AED or elsewhere in the hospital.I consider it of utmost importance to challenge bad practices and provide open, honest and transparent care, being fully aware of duty of candour and the recent government initiatives of QIPP agenda and improvising ways of cost efficiencies without compromising patient centered , safe delivery of services. . I am a reflective practioner and hence been able to develop my knowledge with deep learning , translating knowledge to practice.
