I held my own caseload working on a one to one basis to help adults with a learning disability to achieve the agreed outcomes by setting personal goals. This gave me a great insight into working in a non-judgmental manner with individuals regardless of their background, disability, gender, or their personal circumstance. Issues raised were mainly getting the right care and assessment, housing, being more independent and getting a job. I was a core facilitator of 2 self advocacy groups on a weekly basis; helping prepare presentation materials for 4 peer advocates in easy read; attending local partnership board and sub-group meetings. I took an active part in planning and organising our annual conference working as part of a team; supporting colleagues, peer advocates and the lead co-ordinator to ensure the service is delivered to a high standard. I took on additional tasks aside my role such as developing and standardising documents for case work and materials for groups which were used across the advocacy projects across the country. I also developed a database for the referrals received and I was also responsible for quarterly reports needed for local monitoring for Leicester City Council.
