• Develop and evaluate new or existing assays for characterization and authentication of biological materials• Conduct Internal Research and development (IRAD) projects as well as special projects with minimal supervision and as directed• Develop and improve protocols relevant to the department’s specialty • Train new biologists in laboratory and departmental procedures; participate in cross-training with other departments• Ensure SOPs and departmental procedures are current and up-to-date.• Complete work orders as scheduled

• Protistology department-maintain, propagate, and preserve protist cultures for the BEIR collection• Molecular Biology works: authentication of new and existing collections through DNA extractions, PCR, sequencing, plasmid extractions, cloning, etc.• Growing and maintaining different cell lines for parasite infection• Provide various sample platforms for sequencing and analyze sequence results• R &D and troubleshooting of non-conforming cultures• Research and Development on special projects including Optimization methods for Genomic DNA extraction, Mycoplasma Decontamination Project and others• Responsible for creating, editing, and reviewing company SOPs, Work Instructions, and Forms• Participate in technology transfer within ATCC• Assist and conduct experimental design, methods, and procedures on multiple projects analyzing new technology• Train others in laboratory and departmental procedures

• Cultivation, cryopreservation and molecular authentication of protist cultures• Provide input in the development of SOPs and departmental documentation• Laboratory data management and analysis• Research and development

• DNA works: Molecular Cloning- Designing of oligonucleotides (primers) for amplifying target gene of interest, PCR amplification, PCR product purification, DNA-gel extraction and purification, DNA ligation, PCR Bacterial transformants colonies Screening, Restriction endonuclease analysis, Gel-electrophoresis (Agarose and SDS PAGE).• Bacterial works (E. coli)- DNA bacterial transformation, Plasmid DNA and Maxi DNA isolations, Protein expression and purification, Large scale protein expression in 10-liter Bioreactor (BIOFLO 3000), Making and purification of inclusion bodies• Protein works- Small and large scales protein refolding, High pressure liquid chromatography (AKTA-HPLC) protein purification, i.e. Source Q, Ni+2 and Sephadex 200 columns, Protein-Biotinylation and Tetramerization, Surface Plasmon resonance-Biacore immobilization and Binding experiments
