Lead development and implementation of bioinformatics tools to support clinical diagnostics with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Microarray and other genetic and cytogenetic investigations.I also lead in the development of strategy to deliver new NGS clinical services to the NHS.I manage and train a dynamic and growing team of Bioinformaticians built from a continuing intake of STP trainee bioinformaticians. I work closely with the National School of HealthCare Sciences to contribute to the curriculum and recruitment to the nationwide STP programmes.In this role I am also responsible for the System administration of the Debian Linux servers within the lab as well as the roll out and automation within cloud environments. I was heavily involved in the tendering process for the 100,000 Genomes Project and subsequent Genomic Lab reconfiguration and have embedded myself into the cross-trust implementation group to roll-out over the South West Genomics Laboratory Hub.

Development of methylation DNA Imuno-Precipitation Next Generation Sequencing pipelines, novel pre-processing techniques to cleanse the mulitple chemistry's found on the Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChips.Development of massively parallel HPC techniques to compute trans-methyl-Quantitive Trait Loci across the methylome and then correlate these longitudinally across the life span. (paper in print). Development of a web portal and research tool to present effectively and make the vast amounts of data available to the scientific community.Development of a Lab Information Management System to track samples from stores to methylation data output.

Design of prokaryote microarray probes. Empirical testing to increase efficiency of probe design algorithms.Statistical analysis optimising new microarray products & protocols.Full-stack develop of an bespoke Lab Information Management System (LIMS) using a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, Mysql, PHP). Modules included: reagent tracking, equipment management, environmental control (temp/O3-levels), robot management, project management, supplier delivery tracking. I also enigineered dashboards to rank product popularity, maps of customer behaviour, and trends in quality control metrics.

Developed an online portal to bring together the dispersed Legume scientists from across the globe to contribute and govern a definitive unified Legume resource spanning all corners of the plant sciences. Including adding new species, contributing data or photos from area of expertise i.e. phyochemistry. As well as allowing manipulation of the phylogeny itself.
