I am an undergraduate Biological Sciences student at the University of Liverpool.Since starting university, I became a member of the "Life Sciences Outreach Society" in my 1st year. In my 2nd year, I became a part of the committee as Social Media Secretary. With this new role, I have gained time management and organisation skills, through taking time to advertise volunteering opportunities like the "Science Jamboree" and the "Meet the Scientists" event at the World Museum that involved delivering a strawberry DNA extraction activity to primary school children. I volunteered at the British Heart Foundation in the summer leading up to my 3rd year as part of a university module and to gain work experience skills. As part of this module, I also undertook a 40hr virtual work-based experience with IPG HealthI attended a Cantonese language school for 10 years, completing my GCSE qualification and also took an "Open Languages" class in Mandarin for 12 weeks for beginners at university. To diversify my education and to discover new opportunities, I am strongly considering applying for a "Year In China" after my 3rd year. This will add another year to my education, but the experiences I will encounter will definitely be worth it.
