Co-founded an independent research project investigating the relationship between an important marine elasmobranch species (Bull shark) and potential novel nursery habitats in the spring-fed ecosystems of Crystal River, Florida. As an independent research team, obtained multiple rounds of grant funding from the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida. Designed and implemented a robust three arm research program including scientific fishing surveys, acoustic tagging and monitoring, and citizen science components. Developed partnerships and collaborations with multiple governmental agencies, academic institutions, non-profit organizations, media outlets and community leaders. Lead operations and program logistics to continue to execute high-level research, foster collaborative relationships, and maximize limited resources in the pursuit of growing a passion project into a viable professional avenue.

OFFSHORE* Oversees and manages side-scan sonar assets, including purchasing, repairing, and maintaining multiple Klein 3900 systems and winches.* Spearheads equipment preparation operations, site planning and data collection and management for offshore cruises aboard state owned and chartered vessels up to 200 tons* Employs ArcGIS, SonarWiz, SonarPro, Hypack and EchoView to interpret, analyze and map fisheries and sonar data.* Participates in approximately 60 offshore sea days per year while serving as chief scientist on cruises up to 12 days* Participates actively in fisheries data and biological samples collection following SOPs using trawls, S-BRUV video recording, side-scan sonar, trap, and hook and line gears.* Operates and maintains stationary baited underwater video arrays (S-BRUV) during sampling throughout the eastern Gulf of Mexico.* Utilizes SeaGIS Eventmeasure to identify and enumerate marine species, identify and quantify marine benthic habitats during processing of reef fish video surveys following SOPs* Prepares and present relevant research at fisheries conferences- AFS Florida 2022 presenter “Factors influencing temporal stability of reef fish habitats in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico (West Florida Shelf)”INSHORE* Serves as Chief Scientist during small vessel sampling trips in Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay, and Florida Bay/Everglades-site planning, gear preparation, trailering, vessel operation (up to 30ft), gear deployment and retrieval, data recording and QA/QC* Utilizes trawl and seine nets, up to 600 ft in length.* Tracks and examines biological data; fish ID/length/weight/sex/count * Gather samples including otoliths, tissue, and gut samples from selected specimens in the field and lab following strict protocols.* Operates, organizes, and maintains sampling equipment, including nets, scales, water quality probes (YSI hydrolab), and outboards/vessels.

I designed and composed complete protocol for a government fundedlong-term research project. Doing field research, I adapted standardoperating procedures to make sampling as efficient and effective aspossible. I organized and analyzed data, and found tangible resultsfrom it. Along with this, I trained team members for efficient researchand project results.
