United Life Sciences was a strategic partnership formed in early 2013 by 4 major Life Science trade organisations: the BioIndustry Association, Bionow, BioPartner UK and One Nucleus, and joined in 2014 by MediWales; with a combined membership of over 1,100 companies. Our first win was after campaigning to extend the BioMedical Catalyst Fund and many extra projects were funded as a result. We created a coordinated UK presence at overseas conferences and supported each others events.After 5 years we realised that we no longer needed a formal structure to collaborate and reverted to our individual MoUs and relationships.

www.diagnox.co.ukDiagnOx provides networking and incubation for entrepreneurs and companies in the UK diagnostics sector. DiagnOx was set up with support from SEEDA and is managed by Oxford Innovation (www.oxin.co.uk)

I inherited OBN from its founders, Jonathan Reynolds and Ben Mumby-Croft; set up the UK Bioinformatics Forum (OBF) and brought the network into sustainability within the university environment.

Within the Research & Business Development Office, I was responsible for the University's grant funding database and for advising academic applicants on the submission of their proposals to Research Councils and the European Commission.

Within the TAC (Therapeutic Antibody Centre), I was part of a team producing antibodies using various medium-scale techniques, for research and clinical trials.

The laboratory is best known for the development of tests for inhibin A which is widely used for prenatal screening as part of the Quad test, and for inhibin B, which is used to detect infertility in men and also to measure "ovarian reserve" in women. The intellectual property from the laboratory is commercially exploited by a number of large diagnostic companies.
