There are few that know their country as intimately as Birgit, a 4th generation Namibian of German descent. She is one of the most passionate ambassadors not just for the country, but Africa, and has experienced first-hand the transformational power that travel can have not only on travelers, but also on local impoverished communities, which has led directly to the protection of many endangered wildlife such as black rhino. Post-graduation she tried out a short stint in the hotel industry before joining one of the safari leaders in Southern Africa, Wilderness Safaris. In 2014 she joined the innovative inbound tour operator Ultimate Safaris as their sales and marketing director and is about to enter her 20th year in tourism. She has traveled to more than 500 lodges, camps and hotel in southern Africa, exploring not only her own country but also journeyed to the Okavango Delta, got soaked by the Victoria Falls and regularly travels to South Africa for work and pleasure. She’s also ventured to the northern hemisphere a few times, including the UK, Germany and the iconic cities of the USA. While she enjoys the pulsating vibe of big city life, she prefers her soul to be rejuvenated in her favorite place of Namibia, the north west of Namibia where her seemingly inexhaustible positive energy gets it’s much needed recharge. Birgit is known for her infectious enthusiasm, her unwavering commitment to the preservation of the environment through tourism, and maintaining the highest standards in creative and original safari planning. As she embarks on a purpose-driven quest to experience the world beyond the usual bucket-lists, she intuitively believes everybody and everything is connected and that Transformational Travel is not an isolated, insular experience, but can truly change the world. A budding storywriter, as well as a fledgling amateur birder and casual photographer, she likes to notice the little things that impact her the most on her life journeys.
