As a university lecturer in Empirical Research Methods in Medical Engineering, my aim is to equip students with the skills to plan and conduct experiments independently. Through a comprehensive course of 12 lectures and 12 tutorials, I introduce both qualitative and quantitative methods for experimental design, sample design, data collection and processing, and analysis of experimental results. Statistical methods, including exploratory data analysis and visualization, methods of analysis of variance, and non-parametric methods are treated as tools for analysis and interpretation.The course follows the scientific discovery process, covering the individual steps from the research question to the generation of suitable hypotheses and their testing. The lectures are accompanied by practical exercises, allowing students to apply their knowledge and develop their empirical research skills.
