Dr. Birikim Özgür was born in Nicosia. He graduated from Middle East Technical University. He worked as an Instructor at Middle East Technical University and Bilkent University. He holds a Ph. D. in the field of Educational Sciences from Middle East Technical University. He worked as an Education Specialist in the “From Field to School” Project which aimed at linking seasonal agricultural laborer children to the school system in Turkey. He is currently working as an instructor at one of the universities in the northern part of Cyprus. Dr. Birikim Özgür was a deputy of the Republican Turkish Party from July 2013 to January 2018, served as Minister of Finance and is also the head of the Ozker Ozgur Peace and Democracy Foundation.
