The Capitol Hill Intern Association (CHIA) is a bipartisan and bicameral Congressional Staff Organization (CSO) that is committed to serving the backbone of our nation’s legislative branch — Congressional interns. By being a resource repository, employment pipeline, and relationship builder for Capitol Hill interns, I am dedicated to fostering the next generation of public servants. I hope that by focusing on community building through bipartisanship, we can build long-term connections that will redefine the atmosphere of the next generation of Congressional staffers.My work here touches on every aspect of running a Congressional organization: building our organization's language, managing our social media team, coordinating direct outreach with Congressional offices, event-planning and execution, identifying and initiating relationships with stakeholders, providing value to and collaborating with other Congressional organizations, and identifying talent to establish a strong executive board.

● Achieved 1,332 volunteer shifts in 3 months & 418 during GOTV, top 10% statewide & top in my region, helping maintain a democratic seat in one of the closest races nationwide & reach historic voter turnout rates in Richmond● Innovated organizing in this pandemic by building deep relationships entirely virtually, implementing virtual trainings, and organizing and leading an entirely Zoom-based GOTV with hundreds of attendees● Developed a powerful team of 5 volunteer leaders and recruiters that took over a majority of our team’s GOTV responsibilities, which allowed us to maintain the largest virtual staging location calling into Virginia during GOTV● Digitally organized every regional democratic committee leader in the Richmond area by structuring weekly coordination meetings and delegating specific authority to each leader in order to have joint, semiweekly phonebanks ● Created 7 resource guides for volunteers that maximized recruitment in my turf, with examples of a “Volunteer Delegation Plan” for volunteer-leaders to take on volunteer management responsibilities, or cold call guidance docs

● Leveraged relational organizing during a pandemic to develop a team of 15+ consistent volunteers in rural Clarion & Venango Counties, who completed 70+ virtual phone bank shifts; the highest in my region & in the top 10% of organizers statewide● Produced nearly 12,000 voter contact attempts through phonebanking & textbanking to help nearly 300 voters apply for & send in their vote by mail ballot● Conducted 40+ virtual 1:1 meetings to both manage my consistent volunteers & recruit new people; convinced roughly 80% of 1:1s to volunteer● Digitally organized through Zoom, Facebook, Twitter, & other digital tools to recruit, train, & develop new volunteers across Western PA & continued building the Democratic base, even amidst a pandemic

● Worked 10 to 12 hour days for 7 days every week since December● Reached out to over 12,000 people through door knocking and phone-banking● Ranked first & second place either in 1:1s, phone calls, or doors knocked for 3 weeks in a row on internal campaign leaderboards● Held 1:1 meetings with over 60 potential supporters and convinced 30% of attendees to support Amy● Implemented novel relational organizing techniques to foster connections with political activists and voters

● Established new and effective model of advertising for promoting off-campus events● Fostered greater accountability by structuring and compartmentalizing work through Trello● Brought in over 60 people to a single event alone by cold-emailing and cold-calling prospective attendants

● Drafted and wrote multiple articles and columns about current events and guides on campus● Conducted interviews of professors and graduate students for an article on 3D-printing for cancer research

● Organized and processed information according to a narrow set of criteria in order to decide which books would appear on the journal● Assisted in redesigning and promoting JEGP social media outlets and developing new ones

● Campaigned against wasteful spending from the Student Council by forming an opposing student majority and successfully redirecting funding into more popular events● Improved interconnectedness by developing weekly community activities and games for residence members

● Set up recording equipment, projector screens, and stereo systems as an IT assistant for protests in Washington DC● Assisted iSave President in finding new sources interested in IT services to extend the company
