After a highly successful decade of software engineering, I am beginning a career as an economist working in the public interest and for the common good.I hold an M.S. from the Economic Theory and Policy program at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College. I bring a high level of expertise in programming and data systems management, and a proven track record within my graduate program. My background in mathematics and my software skills have helped me progress at the top of my class and work easily with statistics and models in the program. I have experience with a number of public data sets. I have also made a major methodological contribution to Levy’s flagship microsimulation model, significantly improving the realism of the conditional distributions of simulated data. I have presented my work at three conferences and won the Association for Institutional Thought 2024 Student Paper Prize.I started my software career at Apple Inc., among the most selective institutions in the software world, working on geographic data pipelines. My trajectory since then has been toward aligning my work with my ethics. The four years before I entered the economics graduate program, I worked on medical data systems for Partners in Health, an organization started by Dr. Paul Farmer to support public health care systems delivering “a preferential option for the poor.” Despite becoming a leading figure in the OpenMRS community, I decided to pursue a career in economics in order to help shape systems for the public interest at the policy level.
