More than 20 years experience in commercial remote sensing companies, government research organisations, defence science, and universities. Providing remote sensing consultancy services, new solutions and products from satellite and airborne imagery, training and workshops, publication of technical reports and peer reviewed papers, development of software and tools, project management and technical support. Extensive R&D and project experience in terrestrial and marine remote sensing applications including vegetation and soil mapping, acid sulphate soils, precision agriculture, mineral mapping, mine environment mapping (acid mine drainage), heavy mineral sands and rare earth elements, marine bathymetry, river bathymetry, ocean color, benthic habitat mapping, marine ecology, and marine spatial planning.All inquiries welcome in remote sensing project development, data processing services, and technical support. Have recently developed new satellite and airborne bathymetry and seafloor reflectance algorithms for hyperspectral and multispectral imagery such as Worldview 2 (WV2) and Worldview 3 (WV3); these algorithms perform well for coastal waters and reefs/lagoons up to 45m depths. Have also just developed advanced wavelength mapping tools for WV2 and WV3 imagery that extracts wavelength shifts such as vegetation red-edge wavelength position, mineral wavelengths in the VNIR (iron oxide minerals: pyrite-jarosite-goethite-hematite) and SWIR (e.g. 2.2 um wavelength shifts for mica chemistry), hydrocarbon and environmental plastics wavelength detection in the SWIR near 1.6-1.7 um and 2.3 um, etc. Exciting possibilities await for Hyperspectral type applications of WV3 for mineral exploration, environmental monitoring, and more.Current interest is in new applications and time series analysis of Sentinel 2 and Sentinel 1 data. Have developed a new technique for mapping fractional cover (photosynthetic vegetation, non-photosynthetic vegetation, bare ground) from Sentinel 2. Have also developed a time series decomposition method to extract trend and seasonality for vegetation from Sentinel 2 and Landsat data; with new phenology indices for mapping vegetation types and condition (woody and herbaceous, annual and perennial grasses, weeds species, etc.). Combined time series of Sentinel 2 optical data and Sentinel 1 radar data also being exploited for improved vegetation monitoring and mapping.
