Corvus is reinventing commercial insurance by providing a compelling digital user experience combined with risk scoring utilizing new data sources such as sensors and Internet of Things. Insurance products include Cargo, Property & Casualty, Automotive, and Cyber. Technologies used: Elixir, Phoenix, GraphQL, Elm and Postgres for web applications; Scikit for machine learning.

Hired as the founding CTO to support an innovative value-based model of healthcare using a capitated payment model, care teams (physicians and health coaches) and data-driven technology to support exceptional, pro-active patient care. Built Iora’s collaborative care platform utilizing internally developed software and services, open source, and integration partners. Securely deployed the platform to Amazon EC2 while being HIPAA compliant; managed vendor risk assessments from external partners and initiated internal HITRUST program. Technologies used: Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Redis, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Backbone, Ember, Puppet, Ansible. Supported over 30 practice launches in 11 different markets with over 450 employees. Served as executive team member at the company for pre-Series A to Series D funding totaling $123M.

Served as the organizational manager and technical director for the Jamestown Project, a non-profit think tank for promoting democracy for people of color and women.

FutureFridays was a business innovation lab—projects and companies included: ReferralHub, Fashionopoly, Brandsonify, Urban Jumpstart, and ReliefHub. Also provided management consulting services to MRSI (Medical Reimbursement Systems Inc) and helped transition and rebrand the company to LOGIXHealth.

Providing software development and consulting services for the following: AmazingCharts.com - an EMR company; MessageHub.com - startup focused on providing an easy to use API for message services including email, SMS, and APN (Apple Push Notifications).

As CTO and a member of the founding team at Second Rotation, we built the consumer facing re-Commerce service at www.gazelle.com as well as the backend management console; invented and co-wrote 5 patent applications for our core innovations; contributed significantly to product definition, requirements, and design; integrated software with partners through web services (SOAP, REST) and developed an API to our backend services (REST); hired and managed development, QA, and infrastructure resources; leveraged open source software such as Ruby on Rails, Linux, MySQL, and Sphinx to keep development and licensing costs low; designed the physical architecture of all servers, databases, networks, firewalls, including a migration to Amazon's EC2 platform using Rightscale; Served as technical liaison during $12M of the company's fundraising efforts with angel investors, Series A (Venrock), and Series B (Rockport Capital).

During this timeframe, I focused on the following projects:Provided consulting services to AmazingCharts.com, an EMR company. Developed ASP .NET XML Web services (SOAP) allowing communication between the company's VB6 application and the company's website.Created INTune, a DXI instrument tuner using C++, FFT and Microsoft Visual Studio.

I managed all the technical aspects for the company’s compliance product, Blue Sky Solution, including a staff of several developers and a network/systems administrator. Blue Sky Solution was updated from the BlueSky98 product (see Boston Compliance Systems below). In addition to selling the software directly to the compliance departments of mutual fund companies, NRS Boston also started an additional business, Blue Sky Solution Administrative Services, to offer an all inclusive service for companies preferring to outsource their blue sky functions. Since the company was relatively small (from 8 to 16 people), the job included many roles: Software development, technical support, onsite staff support, new customer installations, technical sales support as well as strategic planning, budgeting, and marketing. Managed relationships with customer’s system users and technical staff as well as their transfer agents and broker dealers. Customers included Fidelity Investments, American Century, T Rowe Price, and Vanguard.

As a software engineer and co-founder at Boston Compliance Systems (a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider), I was one of five developers that created the company's flagship product, BlueSky98. BlueSky98 was successfully developed and sold to Fidelity Investments on a tight schedule (6 months) to automate their Blue Sky registration of mutual funds with the states. The application uses a three-tier client/server architecture that behaves like an internet application (all data is presented using HTML and ActiveX controls), but also has local data caching and does not require a web server. The application software was developed using Visual C++ 5.0 (MFC 4.2) and Visual Basic 5.0 under Windows NT 4.0 and integrated with SQL Server 6.5 and Access via OLE-DB and ODBC. Boston Compliance Systems was sold to Thomson Financial in January of 2000.

Developed an automated video publishing system to create discrete, searchable news websites. Co-inventor of US Patent 6115035. This system was used to publish 50+ video news stories daily by New England Cable News.

As a consulting software engineer at imachines, I developed COM objects used in hardware control systems for the semiconductor industry. All objects were developed using ATL 2.1 in Windows NT 4.0.

Played guitar and wrote songs for the Boston based rock band Scatterfield. Released 2 CDs Mesh (1992) and When You Were Here (1995). Played various rock venues, mostly in Boston and NYC - TT the Bears, Middle East, The Channel, Nightstage, the Paradise, The Rat, Toad, CBGBs, Brownies, Under Acme, Space at Chase, Nightengales, The Pyramid. Appeared on the same bill with Aerosmith, Bags, Jeff Buckley, Bullet LaVolta, Cavedogs, Dumptruck, Fun Loving Criminals, Gigolo Aunts, Letters To Cleo, Mighty Bosstones, Morphine, O-Positive, Tribe, Yo La Tengo

Worked on military system for displaying soldier's locations on handheld PDA's and PC's.

Worked on the Safety Performance Analysis System (SPAS) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Developed a machine vision inspection system using Cognex for a Motorola DEK wafer machine.

Wrote test programs for electronic circuit boards using Teradynes L200 and Z1800 testers.
