Biwei Pan received a Ph.D. degree in Microelectronics and Solid State Electronics from Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016. From 2017 till 2021, he worked at Huawei as a senior design engineer of photonic integrated chips. Now, he hold a postdoctoral position at UGent-IMEC, where his research is focused on heterogeneous integration of III-V semiconductors with silicon waveguide circuits.Eight years design and simulation experiences on photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits, includes epitaxial structure of lasers and modulators, cavity and grating of lasers, RF performance of modulators, passive building blocks (MMI, MZI, SSC, GC, phase shifter, OMUX), AlN carrier, thermal, etc;Extensive experience in micro-fabrication processes including photolithography, wet and dry etching, metallization, etc.In-depth understanding of DML, EML and MZM;In-depth experiences in programmable complex pattern layout (IPKISS, Python, Matlab, L-edit)In-depth experiences in photonic integrated circuits design tools and software: Matlab, PhotonDesign, CrossLight, HFSS, ADS, Lumerical, VPI, Ansys WorkBrench, LabVIEW;
