I practice and teach medical massage. I have enjoyed providing 32,000+ hrs. of medical massage in a clinical environment in the last 25 years. I am currently involved in designing several products utilizing the knowledge gained from my experience working with patients suffering from musculo-skeletal, or neuromuscular dysfunction (acute, subacute, or chronic). My treatment philosophy, which is in alignment with my life's mission:1) To Heal - Promote healing by alleviating symptoms, and to restore neuromuscular balance by defeating dysfunctional guarding patterns and habits.2) To Educate - To educate the patient to the causes of the condition. Neuromuscular habits and posture are usually poorly understood and being able to grasp the theories of how and why usually leads to step "3". 3) To Empower - Empowering the patient with the knowledge required engage in effective take self care, which is the only way to ensure longevity and optimum health.My design philosophy/mission: 1) To Educate2) To Heal3) To Empower (sound familiar?)and 4) challenge the dogma of current ergonomic understanding. Applied knowledge from clinical observation over a period of years has as much or more value than that learned during indoctrination from an ivory tower. Proof of this are the mountains of "ergonomic" furniture that perform the task of comfortably enabling a dysfunctional posture for a longer period of time ultimately leading to greater damage to the people that rely on them. We can reverse this trend and we must.I also enjoy teaching patients one on one as well as teaching ergonomic concepts to large groups.I also greatly enjoy narrating and video production.
