During my 25 year career as a police officer, I have responded to numerous motorcycle accidents by both experienced and inexperienced riders. Most of these accidents were rider error. After observing riders who lack total control and confidence during low speed maneuvers, curve negotiation and improper braking, I became passionate about teaching the police motor officer techniques to not only police officers, but to all motorcycle riders. We began looking at the motorcycle training options available to civilians and were disappointed to learn that there weren't many. The MSF does a great job of providing basic training to beginners and intermediate/refresher training to experienced riders. However, there was no training available that was comparable to the advanced skills taught in police motor school. Upon realizing that there was a huge opportunity to bring advanced skills to civilian riders, we began talking to a number of police motorcycle officers and other instructors and obtaining feedback and ideas. There was overwhelming support for the idea of creating a civilian riding course that is truly modeled from police motor school- not just the low-speed work, but the crash avoidance street skills as well. With the collaboration and input from other motor officers, we developed three challenging, fun, and rewarding course options for experienced riders that want to take their riding skills to the next level: Advanced Riders Course, Precision and Control Course, and the Defensive Riding Course. Since 2014, we have expanded ProRider to 84 Locations Nationwide. We plan on expanding into every state and hopefully near every major city! Each Training Site is independently owned and operated, but meets a rigorous approval process and conforms to the high standards established by ProRider.
