With a graduate degree in Global Development and Social Justice, I am deeply passionate about addressing social inequalities, and community advocacy. I currently work as a convenor of stakeholders in addressing housing barriers within a diverse community.Previously I partnered with food-insecure SNAP participants in obtaining the social supports necessary to foster self-sufficiency, as they pursue higher education, and/or employment. I have worked with children with exceptional needs, survivors of domestic & sexual violence, as well as individuals and families in need of subsidized housing. I have devoted my career to working in social welfare with the hope of cultivating a more equitable, sustainable society for marginalized populations, both domestically and globally.Some of my experiences include employee management and team-building in a domestic violence shelter setting. I’ve provided crisis intervention support to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault (rape crisis advocacy.) I have assisted clients with applications for state orders of protection, and rapid rehousing with subsidy, applying for social welfare programs, as well as assisting with job readiness & school placement. Additionally, I have experience as a Housing Specialist, working with recipients of Section 8 in the Housing Choice Voucher program. My primary responsibilities in this role were monitoring program compliance through income verification, as well tracking & recording changes in family composition, and completing annual & interim re-examinations.
