Profile bio

About Bette Jo Babcock, Ed.D.

I am an innovative and creative professional who built a reputation as a catalyst for implementing new ideas; as well as designing learning tools, courses, and programs. Throughout my career, I researched ideas from diverse business resources and found ways to implement strategies into the classroom. Examples of this are:♦ Created after-school Business Club, which launched a student-run store, as a collaborative effort to connect the business community and school. Students brainstormed how to fundraise and delivered PowerPoint presentations to school / community foundation to gain $5,000 to launch the store. ♦ Designed and conducted in-service staff training to both middle school and high school educators, featured training courses such as 6 Traits of Writing, Time Management, Teaching Techniques for English Language Learners (ELL), and Gifted Education using PowerPoint and other innovative training strategies to capture participants’ attention and make training fun and memorable.♦ Created award-winning reading buddies program, partnering 8th grade readers with students in special education to increase the reading confidence and promote interaction between students. This resulted in improving the 8th graders reading and taught them to value the unique abilities of the students with special needs. This later evolved and expanded to 6th through 8th grade students who partnered with students in elementary schools, which is still a successful ongoing program today.♦ Invited to serve on Illinois State Board of Education Language Arts Content Advisory Committee from 2000–2009 to develop and assess questions for the language arts section of the new Illinois state teacher certification tests.Specialties: ♦ Training and Development ♦ Course and Curriculum Design♦ Process Improvement♦ Project Management♦ Policy and Procedure Development♦ Consensus Building♦ Cross Cultural Work Environments♦ Clients Needs Assessments♦ Long-Range Strategies

Listed skills include Training, Program Management, Teaching, Team Building, and 40 others.
