Barbara Brighton started BJB Enterprises-Jazz Ventures, in 1994. Growing up in a musical family, studying piano for many years and being a devoted jazz fan much of her life, provided her with necessary knowledge and inspiration to start a business that would be dedicated to promoting and producing jazz music and its musicians, including budding artists. Through the years, she has had the opportunity to produce a number of events throughout the city, including tributes and fund raisers. She has produced CD’s, has done publicity and consulting, and produces the highly respected Young Artist Jazz Series, which has been held at Catalina Bar & Grill since 1996. This series has propelled the careers of some of our most talented new jazz stars. She has also been involved in numerous community activities. Barbara is currently on the advisory board of the California Jazz Foundation (Californiajazzfoundation.org). She has produced Judy Wexler's last 3 highly acclaimed CD's, "Easy on the Heart","Dreams and Shadows" and "Under a Painted Sky" as well as Mark Winkler's CD's: "Mark Winkler Sings Bobby Troup", "Till I Get it Right" and "West Coast Cool" with Cheryl Bentyne. Barbara just completed production on vocalist, Julie Kelly's cd "Happy To Be", which is due to be released in early fall. www.bjbjazz.comIn addition to her music business, Barbara Brighton is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has maintained a psychotherapy practice since 1975. The primary focus of her practice is adolescent, individual and family/couples psychotherapy. For many years, she was the consultant for the Van Nuys Breast Center, helping patients and their families through the Breast Cancer journey.
