As a student researcher for Jaczon BV, I was tasked with finding ways to enable the fishing trawlers to lower their CO2 emissions and cost of fuel consumptions. A feasibility study was performed, looking into the most promising methods. Some projects which were analyzed were: A exhaust gas scrubber to enable the usage of cheaper fuel, waste heat recovery systems to reuse heat from exhaust fumes, or lower trawling speeds.
