My research work concentrates on the development of novel detection techniques for ionising radiation and their application in fundamental research, nuclear industry, security and nuclear threat reduction and for health care applications, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.My current focus is the development of very compact, low-power sensor system for alpha,beta,gamma and neutron radiation, with very high efficiency and applications at the limit of detectability. Possible applications range from neutron imaging modules for the ESS to kiloton sized water Cherenkov counters, from the characterisation of radioactive waste to environmental monitoring and cancer diagnosis and dosimetry for cancer treatment environments.My fundamental research focuses on the quark and gluon substructure of the nucleon and development of new experiments for the planned EIC and the AMBER/NA66 collaboration at CERN.This expertise will serve well in my new role as Scientific Director at AevaSpec.Specialties: detector development for fundamental research and nuclear applications for healthcare, security and the nuclear industry, nuclear physics, simulations, data handling and analysis
