As an interior designer, my goal is to create functional spaces that reflect the visual style of each client. Extensive experience has given me the skills to listen, educate and collaborate. The process involves tailoring each space to the environment and a client's needs; working with color and new materials; analyzing space planning and design development; detailing a project, from furniture to architectural elements; and dealing with project budgets and purchasing. My passion for modern architecture, sustainability, contemporary furniture, French and Italian design, and modern art informs my design everyday. I was lucky to work closely with Interior Design Hall of Fame designer Orlando Diaz Azcuy for seven years. Orlando helped me to observe, simplify and clarify design. Together we worked on a range or traditional and contemporary interiors, bringing originality to each project.I began my career in television and movie set decorating, where stories are told visually. To me, every home is a backdrop to life. I did not forget this early lesson, and continue to imbue interiors with my client's preferences and collections, as they tell a personal tale. Traveling has been and continues to be the one constant in my adult life, informing my design. As a young adult I traveled through Europe and Asia, where I lived and studied in Taiwan and Hong Kong. My design education later took me to San Francisco, Italy and Oaxaca, when I learned alternative ways of seeing and living life. I have gained accreditation from the University of Hong Kong, Bachelor of Social Science, Economics and Philosophy; California College of the Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Interior Design; and U.S. Green Building Council, LEED AP.You can learn more about my personal aesthetic on our website, www.bjorndesign.net my design blog, www.bjorndesign.net/blog/ and follow my design interests on Instagram, @bjorndesign_ca
