I started working in social media marketing in 2006. Business developer from 2006 to 2009 for 2 social networks: Taatu.com and Netlog.com. I worked on pan european campaigns with digital and media agencies in the early days of social media marketing.Content creator from 2009. I launched 'The Social Traveler' and let people influence my travels and challenge me around the world on social media. I was a social media influencer avant la lettre and learned how to manage and organically grow an engaging community. This got picked up by TEDx and I got the honour to do a presentation about my way of traveling in 2014.In 2014 I ran an innovative 6 month marketing campaign with the Canadian national tourism board, 9 Canadian provinces and the Gibson guitar brand.My goal was to cross Canada in an old VW van and learn to play guitar along the way with the help of locals.This campaign got a lot of international press coverage and resulted in massive social media reach. I got the honour to present this campaign in Berlin at ITB 2015. in 2015 I created influencer marketing concept 'Destination Challenges'. The idea here is that Destinations put content creators and influencers to the test with a daily challenge that they have to tackle with the help of their community.By 2020 the Destination Challenges concept was organized in over 100 destinations around the world. So far it ran in cities and regions in Canada, Germany, Austria, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Wales, Ireland, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Latvia, Luxembourg, Tunisia and Honduras.in 2018 and 2019 I worked with Berlin Travel Festival and organized the Creator Lounge, an influencer marketing network event where travel brands and tourism boards connected with a selection of professional content creators and influencers in travel. in 2019 I launched Destination Digital, a digital agency to help companies in the tourism industry with their content and influencer marketing efforts.
