About Brenda Edgerton-Webster Phd

As a future-focused strategist, my multi-faceted work history, volunteerism, and educational experiences uniquely position me to effectively advance an organizations’ development practices and community partnering to the next level of sustainability and innovation in fundraising. My passion for relational storytelling, creative fundraising, and data analysis has produced a catalog of executive communication and philanthropic experiences that would elevate any organization’s fundraising portfolio and philanthropic standing in the San Diego County and southern California region. I sincerely believe that effective fundraising begins with a Meaningful Mission; is driven by a Compelling Message; and is only sustained and impactful via Meaningful Relationship Building (T. Denny Sanford). Over the last decade, a variety of entities have recruited me to specifically implement comprehensive strategic plans of operation and private/public resource development in higher education. I have effectively engaged donors and sponsors in the planning, organizing, implementing, and coordination of grants/grant management, capital and planned-giving campaigns, in-kind donations, and robust community engagement activities to the tune of more than $10 million. In my current role as a non-profit and IDEA consultant, I develop and implement strategic operations, communication, and fundraising plans for small San Diego entities who seek funding from individual, corporate, foundation, and government resources -- local and national. Over the last 25 years as an academician, I have written impactful and successful grant and sponsorship proposals ranging from $30,000 to $5 million. My approach to leadership is equity-focused, responsive, and galvanizes culturally diverse professional and community stakeholders to realize their potential as agents of collective-effort fundraising practices and a philanthropic spirit that transform lives. A responsive leader, who performs well in fast-paced environments and effectively adapts to change, I bring executive-level expertise in areas of advocacy and instruction on the role of every member in the organizations’ development process; the creation of a variety of workflow systems on strategic communication and philanthropic best practices, and fundraising/communication workshops for board members, donors, C-Suite executives, and development staff.
