Lead Engineer/Module leader for the BMW X1 exterior front-end module work includes:Leading the development and industrialization of front-end components and systems according to the BMW processes and procedures. Managing four SE Team-leaders and overseeing their cross-functional development teams. Assuring cost efficient harmonization of components across derivates and product lines. Making change decisions within module leader limits, preparing and presenting decision points to decision makers above limits. Deviation management by securing feasible short- and long-term solutions. Front-end components and systems include: bumpers, lights integration, crash system, active pedestrian protection, active air guidance, hood, fenders, front screen, and wash/water management systems.

I was nominated and elected as top candidate across the Global GKN Aerospace division for a Chief Engineer development program. The program aims to turn promising engineers into Chief Engineers by a combination of trainings and international deployments alongside existing Chief Engineers across the business.

Lead Engineer for the Bombardier C-Series and Global 7000 aileron development projects, work included:Managing the technical interface to the customer for all engineering development tasks (Design, Stress, Configuration/Change Management and Test & Certification). Drive technical solutions for configuration options and risk items including providing cost, weight, risk and schedule impacts to the sales department assuring commercial viability and contractual compliance. Defining the project structure, assigning engineering resources and securing other internal resources. Defining work packages based on outsourcing strategies for aligning schedule demands and resource availability. Performing internal (Senior Management) and external (Customer/Supplier) development reviews assuring goals have been met and to secure clean project stage exits. Checking of technical documentation (drawings, reports, work instructions etc.). Supporting the bidding processes with engineering resource estimates (non recurring and recurring). Managing the intellectual property capture and reporting to UK management.Responsibilities:- Budget: C-Series and Global 7000 project budget- Personnel: Technical 15 employees, Disciplinary 3 employees- Signatures: Bombardier C-Series Mass signatureAchievements:- I successfully led the cross-functional engineering team in the development of a conforming and sized design of the Global 7000 composite aileron.- I secured the Global 7000 aileron PDR exit and JDP exit by presenting the design, stress, tooling & build concept, certification strategy, project plans and risk items on site at the customer. - I managed a cross-site hand over of the C-Series prototype manufacturing to series production.- I led the definition and implementation of a series of design improvements.- I secured and exceeded the GKN Munich annual IP capture goal by 25% 2012 and 50% 2013.

In addition to Test & Certification Engineer I was also assigned interim Project Manager for the Bombardier C-Series Aileron development project, work included:Schedule adherence, preparing and presenting internal and external project reviews, delivery reporting, action list tracking, cost tracking and reporting and internal coordination between the engineering, manufacturing and quality departments. Responsibilities:- Budget: C-Series project budget (reporting only)- Personnel: Supporting the technical leadership of 15 employeesAchievements:- I succeeded in applying my recent MBA skills as project manager during this 6-month resource gap in a transition phase from external to internal resources. - I improved the customer relationship & satisfaction by increased transparency and reporting.

Test & Certification engineer for the Bombardier C-Series Aileron development project, work included:Writing test-requirements, -plans and -reports to show compliance with customer and authority requirements. Managing internal and external resources for composite equivalency testing and material qualification. Definition and execution of composite subcomponent and component level testing at internal and external test houses including stiffness, strength and impact testing. Design to cost activities for several test set ups and tests. Supervising external test engineers, students and a thesis project.Responsibilities:- Budget: C-Series test budget- Personnel: Technical 1 employee and 1 student Achievements:- Within 2 weeks I defined and successfully executed a stiffness verification test. - For external tests I independently wrote technical test plans, got quotations from external international test houses, negotiated a 20% cost reduction of the best bid and sourced a test house that finalized the testing. - Generating (B-basis) design allowables at three different environmental conditions based on ASTM test norms (test program including over 1000 specimens).- Defining and executing sub component testing in line with the certification scope.- I succeeded in driving the supplier selection process for a full-scale component test by coordinating the supplier, the customer and internal senior management in order to reach the best price/quality balance. This included design to cost activities resulting in a cost reduction of 300k€. - I defined, recruited and supervised a 6-month master thesis student project (Environmental conditional behavior of CFRP properties).

Development engineer subcontracting for Eurocopter Germany, work included:Development and production support for dynamic systems of light civil helicopters. Part and system improvement studies including time, cost and risk analysis. Processing technical documentation. Processing in-service incidents with definition of protective and corrective measures. Coordinating an environmental program (REACH). Supervising thesis projects.Achievements:- Reduced the internal concession process time from 1-2 weeks to 3-4 days by increasing communication between internal departments.- Successfully contributed to the technical proof of continued airworthiness for an in-service incident that threatened to ground part of the helicopter fleet.- Contributed to the analysis of test data that supported an improved and harmonized maintenance interval for a dynamic system from 200 to 800 hours.- I defined and supervised a 6-month master thesis student project (CFRP main rotor drive shaft).Research engineer subcontracting for EADS Innovation Works, work included: Manufacturing of composite components (monolithic and sandwich). ASTM testing of composites including documentation and interpretation of test results.
