I work on the events team preparing and executing the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas events.

I work with the public everyday in a variety of different ways. No matter what the issue is I will always do my best to resolve it with both parties happy.

In this job I have been given the opportunity to witness and learn how an office is supposed to run. This office runs with an efficiency that is reserved for most high-end watches and I have been allowed to absorb the methods. Even if my position only required me to type dictations, make copies, send mail, and answer telephones calls, I learned how to do them all the right way.

This was a fantastic job where I was charged with the task of informing the surround community of our goals and ambitions. I did this to the best of my abilities for two months and was able to schedule meetings, make contacts, farm, and take in all the beautiful scenery. The fact that that specific AmeriCorps program is the only AmeriCorps program in the entire state that primarily focuses on the environment only made it easier.

This position was a great one. I was able to see first -hand how a Presidential Library operates. I was able to speak with the volunteers and the bosses and really get a feel for how an organization like this one works on a day to day basis. I hope to one day work in an environment like this one again.

I worked in the SAU Foundation where I was able to see how foundations are run. This showed me how important donors are and what means one must go to to keep them happy.

I was only a summer intern so I did my fair share of sending out mass mailers, answering constituent phone calls, and filling the water cooler but there is always a silver lining. They let me give tours of the U.S. Capitol to my fellow Arkansans and that is a privilege that few people have had and one that I will always remember and hold dear.
