Brian Roberson graduated from Lamar University in 2009 with a degree in Mass Communication and again in 2010 with a master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership. Roberson is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at Baylor University. Roberson taught as a high school special education inclusion teacher for Spring ISD and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. He served as Assistant Principal at a ninth-grade center in Aldine ISD and a middle school in Houston ISD before being promoted to Associate Principal. In 2020, Roberson was selected to lead KIPP Northeast College Preparatory High School in Houston, Texas. Within two years at KIPP Northeast, the team significantly increased student achievement, earning a “B-rating” in the state accountability system and four of seven available distinctions while achieving a 100% graduation rate. After successfully improving outcomes at KNCP, Roberson was named Principal in Lamar Consolidated ISD, leading the district lowest performing campus to a graduation rate increase of 8%, a CCMR rate increase of 25%, and building a strong campus culture and systems that erased the campuses status of having the most disciplinary actions by overseeing a 43% decrease in student infractions in one year alone. As an assistant principal, Roberson was named the 2020 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators and the 2022 Principal of the Year by the National Alliance of Black School Educators.Roberson is a member of the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE), a parliamentarian for the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators, and a Life Member of the National Alliance of Black School Educators.
