With over 25 years of experience in automotive aftersales, Michael began his career as a tire installer with a local retailer in Liverpool, England. He progressed into tire wholesale before moving on to launch and scale multiple startups. His journey continued with roles at a national retailer (Kwik-Fit), a vehicle manufacturer (Ford), and a leading tire manufacturer (Michelin). Michael later founded and led international startups across three continents, including ventures in U.S. tire retail and wholesale. He has successfully founded and exited three companies—Motorforce, Blackcircles.com, and Tirescanner.com—acquired by Kwik-Fit, Michelin, and American Tire Distributors, respectively.Michael is currently the founder and President of U.S. based Treadsy.com. At Treadsy, he leads a platform that enables businesses to seamlessly enter the online tire retail market by providing them a turnkey B2C solution. Treadsy leverages an extensive network of installers and a streamlined supply chain, offering API integration and customized white-label solutions that empower partners to deliver branded online tire retail experiences to their customers. In addition, Michael serves as the President and CEO of Tirebuyer.com, one of the largest online tire retailers in the United States, with a network of over 11,000 installers nationwide.Outside of his industry work, Michael is an active investor in private equity and property development through The Welch Group. He is also deeply committed to philanthropy, supporting causes close to his heart such as adoption and fostering, having been adopted himself. In 2015, he established The Welch Trust, a grant-giving charity focused on adoption, children’s health, and education.Michael’s contributions have been widely recognized. He has received an OBE from Queen Elizabeth II for services to business and charity, an Honorary Doctorate of Enterprise from Edinburgh Napier University, the Henry Duncan Medal for Business Leadership, and a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE). He also serves as a trustee and board member for The Prince’s Trust USA and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
