Everyone always says you should work and think outside the box. But staying inside the lines when coloring as a kid and tracing fonts from magazines as a teen helped me understand the role of communication through design. I went on to study brand communications at The Art Institute of Philadelphia, where the principles behind my obsession with keeping things neatly colored in came to fruition. I've worked on projects for Verizon, Idearc Media, The American Cancer Society, and Lee Enterprises prior to starting BLKDOG. While working at a news publication in the early 2000s, I noticed a trend: A need for better branding in advertising, right in my backyard. BLKDOG was adopted on the side, and I left the paper soon after to pursue it full time. BLKDOG grew from a handful of clients to the small but mighty, award-winning team we have today, working with hundreds of clients locally, nationally and internationally.The endless tracing of those logos. The dedication to coloring inside the lines, and knowing when to break all the rules, that theory helps us to create effective, storytelling in a fun, and professional way, crafting brands with intention. Today I lead a team specializing in strategic design and brand development, digital marketing and advertising, web development, and finding great memes to share on our team threads. C’mon!
