Research focus on the political implications of growing class, religious, and geographic distinctions within the African American community. In addition, I examined the distinctions among upper, middle, and lower income African Americans as well as subgroups within the African American community of Africans, Afro-Caribbean’s, and African Americans with roots in U.S. slavery with respect to group consciousness, political ideology and their political implications. I feel that a greater examination of the political behavior and ideology within the African American community, without the often endless comparison to Anglo-Americans would allow more insight into their political behavior, help develop programs and tools to better mobilize the African American community, and grow the research of the politics and political behavior of communities of color.

The California Votes Initiative is a multi-year project funded by the James Irvine Foundation to increase voter turnout among low propensity communities in Central and Southern California. As part of the evaluation team, headed by project PI Dr. Melissa R. Michelson, organized, coded, and evaluated quantitative data using Excel and SPSS. Conducted qualitative, contextual research on various election cycles.

Worked with other editors to review and select articles for publication using a blind review process. Worked with accepted authors to improve and polish articles for publication. Organized corporate fundraising efforts and worked with other editors on alumni fundraising and production, including design, cover art selection, layout, and proofreading.
