In addition, I examined the distinctions among upper, middle, and lower income African Americans as well as subgroups within the African American community of Africans, Afro-Caribbean’s, and African Americans with roots in U.S. slavery with respect to group consciousness, political ideology and their political implications. I feel that a greater examination of the political behavior and ideology within the African American community, without the often endless comparison to Anglo-Americans would allow more insight into their political behavior, help develop programs and tools to better mobilize the African American community, and grow the research of the politics and political behavior of communities of color.
