I was born and raised in the Rochester area, went to college in North Carolina, a small Quaker school called Guilford, graduating in 1982 with a degree in economics and I've been with Morgan Stanley for over twenty years. I'm married, my wife Kathy works at the University of Rochester, and we have two grown children, Alex and Abby. Most of my work revolves around retirement planning; when my Dad retired from Rochester Products he received a pension and Social Security so it was easy for him and my mother to know how much they could afford to spend. Today most of us don't have pensions, what we do have are 401Ks, IRAs and other savings accounts, but it can be hard to figure out how much we can afford to spend without running out of money and which investments give us the best chance of reaching our income goals. You've worked a long time and have probably saved more than you ever imagined, now it's time to start enjoying these assets.
