About Blair Downs

I have worked in the automotive industry for just over 25 years for both Tier I and Tier II suppliers.  My background includes product design, industrialization/process support, quality development, continuous improvement (CI), and leadership.  During that time, I have had many opportunities to learn about different manufacturing processes that produced unique and interesting designs.  I have also grown in my leadership as I learned how to work with and lead a wide array of talented individuals.  Although my job title is related to quality, I have been heavily involved as a leader and facilitator in many of the plants where I have worked. I am recognized as a great problem solver, CI expert, and coach/mentor.  I am often a “go-to” person for peers, managers, and co-workers on matters involving quality, CI, technical, or general job advice.   I have enjoyed my career and really appreciate both the opportunities I have experienced and people I have encountered. I tend to work hard and try to be productive, but also enjoy a good laugh and those special moments where I can reflect on mistakes for personal growth or celebrate a team's success in overcoming a difficult challenge.My goal in leadership is to be a servant leader.  In short, this means I not only do the work to establish a vision and path forward for my team and organization, but that I also work to provide the support and tools for the people who work for and alongside of me.  People who have worked with me will tell you that although I am fast paced and driven, I am fair with my employees and one of the few managers that has ever really listened to them and cared about their growth. I really enjoy making jobs easier for people while improving the success and impact of the business.I am a technical and critical thinker, but I am also a “hands-on” type of person. When I am not at work I enjoy going on adventures with my family and fixing anything broken. I enjoy problem solving so much that you'll find me even doing it at home for fun.
