Fixed Term Contract - Completing assessments on earthquake damaged properties located in Marlborough that were classified as being under the EQC Cap. • Complete assessments of earthquake damage to domestic homes.• Arrange for technical assessments to be completed with engineers and other construction professionals.• Complete detailed Scope of Works and prepare cash settlement offers to present to claimants.• Provide support and advice to claimants.• Prepare detailed and accurate reports.This was a nine-month contract which was extended to twelve months.

Responsible for managing a large number of earthquake claims (up to 600 in the early stages of the earthquake), negotiating loss of houses and property value damage up to $1,200,000. • Discussed settlement opinions with the insured for their house claim.• Assisting the project managers with liaising with contractors, home owners and ensuring that the reinstatement scope/design falls within the policy conditions (e.g.: the floor area is within the insured floor area, there is no betterment that has not been identified and the new house design is a similar quality to the existing dwelling.• Approving engineering reports and geo-tech reports.• Discussed betterment with the insured and builders and ensured costs were clearly identified for the funding letter (this confirms the costs that the policy holder and the private insurance company will contribute towards the rebuilding of a new home or repairs to their property).• Reviewed reinstatement reports/estimates prepared by the Quantity Surveying team at MWH Recovery.• Arranged temporary repairs to earthquake damaged properties.• Negotiated cash settlements for repairs and rebuilds based on the estimate prepared by MWH Recovery or contractors quotes.• Liaised with project managers and quantity surveyors from MWH Recovery.• Proved guidance to claims staff at Vero, AA insurance, AMP and SIS. • Arranging settlement of contents claims that are over $50,000.This was a contract position which was renewed four times.
