  • Bbc
    Ip Broadcast Project Engineer
    Bbc Aug 2017 - Nov 2017
    Belfast, United Kingdom
Working with the IP broadcast specialist I worked to deliver several IP services for the increasing online only content BBC NI was creating. These included building two Encoders and a decoder. One encoder was used for streaming direct for Facebook live and Youtube Live, the other was for sending direct to iPlayer content. The decoder was built to assist in the growing outside Broadcast IP infrastructure. This also included technical testing and development consultation with the suppliers. I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of developing and building these services and working with the departments within BBC NI to deliver their requirements for online content. Gaining more experience and competency within Linux server was greatly valuable.
  • Bbc
    Vision Engineer
    Bbc May 2017 - Jul 2017
    Belfast, United Kingdom
Working within the Studios and Outside Broadcasts for BBC NI within the Vision Engineering team, reporting to Resource Coordinators. Within this role I gained experience working within Studio and Outside Broadcasts which provide differing challenges and understanding of working practices. Within the studios I became competent to set up the studio to prepare for broadcast for BBC Newsline. Including camera racking and operation of automated cameras. As well as this, I completed lighting changes and testing with the RC for different shows the studio was used for. Working in varying Outside Broadcasts, with differing requirements, including: General election debates; Sporting Events; Panel Shows. As these were often fast paced and open to change, my role was both planned and reactive, changing and adding to the technical requirements as per production requests. My responsibilities included vision rigging of the studio and commentary positions (return feeds, autocue, clean feeds) using fibre infrastructure, Rigging stationary mini cameras, Working alongside the RC I completed power safety testing and OB truck start up practices, as well as de-rigging.The General Election at Belfast Count Center provided a unique experience working within a national live event, working with internal and external partners to provide various feeds and satellite routes for both the Northern Ireland and National Coverage. My responsibilities were rigging the event, inclusive of a local studio as well as network position, recording the interviews into ravens throughout the night for playback, and de-rigging the event.

  • Boston Networks
    Service Department Supervisor
    Boston Networks Apr 2015 - Sep 2016
    Glasgow, United Kingdom
This role involves management of an office administrator and six engineering staff. This role is client facing as well as heavily seated in project delivery and financial management. The main responsibilities are:• Management of the team of staff and ensuring the processes and procedures of the maintenance department were adhered to.• Ensuring customer maintenance contracts are renewed efficiently and on time.• Collating performance reports for the Operations Director• Compiling financial information of monthly billing to finance.• Customer contract renewals.
  • Boston Networks
    Service Administration
    Boston Networks Sep 2014 - 2015
This role required organizational skills as well as reactive response to clients’ requirements working within the maintenance department for a security and wireless networking company. The main responsibilities were:• Management of Engineers workload through scheduling of works and availability for call outs as customers required. This requires high levels of organization and thorough thought process due to the reactive nature of the post.• Customer relations over the phone as well as by email, ensuring the clients’ faults are responded to within their agreed contract response period.
  • Glasgow 2014 Limited
Masm And Rate Card Delivery Coordinator
    Glasgow 2014 Limited Apr 2013 - Aug 2014
    Glasgow, United Kingdom
This role was diverse and rewarding due to the variety of tasks and challenges. The main responsibilities were: • Management of the technology database; capturing and maintaining all technology commodities. This was the main tool for reporting commodity allocation to the Organising Committee and delivering contractor designs for all venues, whilst at the same time ensuring a uniform approach is taken to venue deployment where required, through defining processes for the team to follow. • Technology liaison for Rate Card services; this involved development and user acceptance testing of the user portal, collating orders to ensure our suppliers have correct numbers and conducting feasibility studies for non standard requests. These feasibility studies were particularly rewarding as they could take up to a month of research defining how best we could deliver the customer’s requests and ensure they receive the best service possible at games time. • Producing two reports as required for the Organising Committee, these are the Bill of Materials, which require a review of technology with all functional areas to ensure these are acceptable with their operational needs. These reports must also meet technology budgetary requirements in one cycle and the developed designs and rate card orders are reflected therein. I also had responsibility to produce a written document to explain the contents of the report. • Contract delivery, ensuring that the Audio and Large Video display contract designs were in line with venue requirements and budget. • Ensuring change control process (external functional area business case) within Venue Technology Services is processed, reviewed and implemented correctly. During a period of absence of the contract manager, working within procurement guidelines and approval process, I ensured two vital contracts were evaluated, procured and signed, this entailed a wide cross functional area sign off.
