Law practice focuses on federal white-collar criminal defense and state criminal defense, ranging from traffic violations to first-degree murder. Dalton also represents Plaintiffs' civil rights in various Section 1983 actions brought against the Chicago Police Department.In People of the State of Illinois v. Morris, Dalton's client was recently acquitted of first degree murder and attempted murder charges by a Cook County jury. In the case of Adamik v. Motyka, et al., Dalton obtained a judgment in favor of her client in a Section 1983 excessive force case against members of the Chicago Police Department. The jury determined that the officers were liable for beating the Plaintiff with a baton and failing to intervene to stop the excessive beating that caused Plaintiff to suffer life-threatening injuries. Won the acquittal of a 21-count indictment, which charged the clients with suborning perjury and obstructing justice in the highly publicized Federal case of United States v. Beau Brindley. Won defendants' acquittals on First-Degree Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, Domestic Battery, Violations of an Order of Protection, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Failure to Register, Possession with Intent to Deliver, and DUI charges. Prepares and litigates pre-trial motions to quash and suppress evidence and/or statements. Drafts sentencing memoranda and presents sentencing arguments in state and federal criminal cases. Drafts various state and federal appellate briefs.In Section 1983 excessive force cases filed against the City of Chicago, Dalton also represents photojournalists that sustained injuries at the hands of Chicago police officers during the 2012 NATO summit.
