I believe in the power of collaboration and the opportunity for collective impact that cross sector partnerships present.My graduate studies focused largely on the intersection of health and the environment, with a specific interest in preventing and mitigating health disparities in children. I studied the impacts of exposure to toxic waste and heavy metals, and explored prevention, mitigation, and remediation programs. I generated policy recommendations for mitigating exposure and addressing inequities in lead exposure in children across Chicago community areas. Combined with qualitative interviews, my research generated recommendations for local government staff and community health partners. This experience cemented my passion for environmental justice and my understanding of the intersection of health and the environment.
