Fire and Emergency received a Notice of Strike Action from the New Zealand Professional Firefighters’ Union (NZPFU) advising of partial strike action and placing a ban on certain types of work from their members. My role was to operationalise the contingency plans that had been identified to ensure Fire and Emergency can continue to operate efficiently and effectively throughout this period. This involved working through the implications of the action notice with representatives across the organisation and reporting back to the ELT Governance group on a daily basis.
