After working 24 years in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) industry, I have retired. I am occasionally doing consulting work to help local agencies set up or to evaluate progress on large ITS projects.

Mr. Christie is a principal hardware, software and systems engineer for the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Division of Noblis. As a principal engineer, he is responsible for technical support for ITS standards program. This role is to provide technical oversight in support of the Program Manager from the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) ITS Joint Program Office. Mr. Christie comes with over 20 years of experience developing hardware/software products, and integrating major systems for commercial and government programs. Mr. Christie senior systems engineering and is certified as a systems engineering professional (CSEP) by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE).Areas of responsibilities include evaluation and assessment of developing ITS standards on behalf of USDOT ITS Joint Program office. He is also responsible for providing on call and on-going program planning advice and recommendations to the USDOT ITS Joint Program Office. Mr. Christie is the developer of the Systems Engineering Process (SEP) being applied to ITS standards. In this role, he is the key author of the SEP Training Course for ITS Standards Working Groups. He has also developed and provided training courses to FHWA field personnel on the basics of the NTCIP communication family of standards and on Deployment Guidance for procurement if ITS Systems and Devices Conforming to ITS Standards.Mr. Christie is a member of over 20 working groups and steering committees that are responsible for developing ITS communication standards . Involvement includes working groups and steering committees from NTCIP, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the American Association of State highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the National Equipment Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the International Standards Organization (ISO). These working groups and committees have developed and are developing over 100 ITS standards.

Provided communication systems and control systems expertise for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects.

Develop large control and information processing systems for US Government applications. Used electronic engineering, software engineering, and systems engineering, and project management skills to conceptualize, plan, develop, test, and deliver systems. Worked closly with customer to concept of operations, requirements specifications, design documents, and testing plans.

Developed communications products (i.e medical terminals, and terminals for the deaf). Resonsible for taking requiements and developing products, then shepparding infant products through the manufacturing process.

Developed office terminal products (i.e. printers, work stations, communications products, etc.). Responsible to plan development and production estimates, organize the development process, design the product, and sheppard product through testing and manufacturing.

Developed daughter cards for special functions to go on Intel computer boards.
