In grade 9, I applied to and was selected to join the Northern Eco-Team, an extracurricular team at my school that designs and manufactures a super fuel-efficient vehicle. With limited manufacturing experience, I used my passion for programming and math to create an HTML form to record measurements on our car, as well as a spreadsheet with queries to track and organize each team member's time contributions to the vehicle. I competed with our team at the Shell Eco-Marathon in Detroit in April 2017.In grade 11 I became a co-manager of the team. I was responsible for organizing the weekly meetings for the other 10 members, as well as overseeing the designing and manufacturing of the vehicle. I primarily focused on updating old electrical drawings and rewiring the electrical systems in the vehicle, but I also assisted in manufacturing parts from aluminum and CNC router operation.In addition to managing the team members, I was heavily involved in securing sponsorships. My co-manager and I raised over $40 000 from local businesses and organizations.
