Ip Program Manager

Suwanee, Ga

As the IP program manager as Silicon Creations my responsibilities have grown substantially from my tenure as an applications engineer. In addition to the responsibilities listed below within my summary as a senior applications engineer, I continue to contribute to Silicon Creations by:- Designing PCB substrates for packaging our silicon test chips within a BGA- Designing high-speed PCBs on FR4 for testing and characterization of said test chips- Working with our VP of engineering, Andrew Cole, on developing a project/program management system to efficiently organize and allocate company resources

Apr 2013 - Jan 2015

Senior Applications Engineer

Suwanee, Ga

I've been fortunate to work with Jeff Galloway and Randy Caplan at Silicon Creations as a senior applications engineer. A brief summary of my responsibilities includes:- Modeling of integer and fractional-N PLLs, SerDes, and LVDS/LVCMOS IOs- Managing our characterization lab while continuing to improve the speed, efficiency, accuracy, and quality of our testing capabilities- Improving the design flow of IP from initially specifying necessary operating conditions to final delivery- Improving the accuracy and consistency of both internal and customer-delivered documentation of IP- Assisting customers with simulating and validating IP for SoC implementation- Advancing the global reputation of Silicon Creations

Graduate Research Assistant

Greater Atlanta Area

My tenure at Georgia Tech was in pursuit of my Ph.D. in electrical engineering. I was fortunate to study there under the advisement of Prof. Steve Kenney where my focus was the development and characterization of advanced RF/microwave communication systems, particularly power amplifiers. The focus of my doctoral thesis was the mathematical modeling and demonstration of novel parametric amplifier and mixer topologies. A summary of my research efforts at Georgia Tech include:- Implementing a Class-E power amplifier at microwave frequencies using a HEMT GaN transistor- Deriving and experimentally validating analytical models that predict the gain and efficiency of microwave parametric power upconverters- Deriving and experimentally validating analytical models that accurately predict the linear and nonlinear gain, efficiency, and AM-AM distortion characteristics of negative-resistance parametric amplifiers- Developing a broadband phase-coherent degenerate parametric amplifier capable of 3 octaves of bandwidth with 26dB of power gain- Analyzing the large-signal stability of degenerate parametric amplifiers across a wide range of operating conditions- Developing a broadband high-gain high-efficiency phase-coherent negative-resistance parametric upconverting amplifier capable of upconverting a microwave signal to three times the input carrier frequency- Analyzing the large-signal stability of negative-resistance parametric upconverting amplifiers across a wide range of operating conditions

Jan 2006 - Feb 2012

Rf/Microwave Engineering Consultant

Norcross, Georgia

At EMS Technologies I assisted in developing, characterizing, and modeling a high-efficiency microwave power amplifier for satellite base station communications.

May 2010 - Jul 2010

Visiting Research Scholar

Santander, Spain

I spent 3 months studying at University of Cantabria in Santander, Spain under the direction of Prof. Almudena Suarez and Prof. Franco Ramirez. Working with Prof. Suarez and Ramirez gave me invaluable experience in advanced simulation techniques for autonomous microwave circuit analysis, such as the conversion matrix approach. I was able to utilize these techniques to first characterize and predict the nonlinear stability of negative-resistance parametric amplifiers - the topic of my doctoral thesis - and to develop simulation models that accurately predicted the large-signal stability, gain, efficiency, and bandwidth of a degenerate parametric amplifier.

Feb 2010 - Apr 2010

Rf/Microwave Engineering Consultant

Atlanta, Georgia

While consulting at CardioMEMS I developed nonlinear simulation models for a Class-E/F SiC microwave power amplifier designed to drive a MEMS-based cardiac ventricular pressure monitoring system.
