Led and mentored a department of over 40 remote engineers across multiple disciplines, including managers, front-end, full-stack, data, and cloud infrastructure engineering, as a member of TUNE’s Executive Team.Responsible for overseeing the SDLC of TUNE’s Partner Marketing SaaS platform, with focus on data architecture design, ensuring scalability, reliability, compliance, and security of systems attributing $10+ million in partner payouts per day.

Led product engineering department, consisting of 3 Software Development Managers and over 20 engineers, successfullystabilizing project velocity following a reduction in force (RIF) and the company's acquisition by Constellation Software.

Led the Dataflow & Reporting engineering teams at TUNE, where we were responsible for reliably transporting and processing customer event data, ensuring compliance, and transforming it into actionable insights within the TUNE Partner Platform.

Transitioned to the Engineering side of the house at TUNE (from Operations). I'm really proud of the work our team was able to accomplish during this transition period.Things we did that I'd like to call out:* We moved our entire customer event dataset to Snowflake (previously in MySQL & ElasticSearch)* We simplified our data compliance & validation processing through heavy use of Apache Airflow* Reprocessed our long-term S3 storage (parquet format) to allow easy & cheap data traversal and pruningThrough these building blocks, we were able to not only improve performance and unlock quick development of new Reporting features for the TUNE Partner Platform, but we were able to reduce cloud hosting costs by over $400k/year.

Led a small team of Database Operations Engineers, responsible for supporting multiple service-based development teams across multiple TUNE products. We focused on large scale data migrations of TUNE's customer facing reporting systems from MySQL to Snowflake and AWS cost reduction efforts. I served both as a Manager and as a SME for TUNE's database systems, with a portion of my time spent doing engineering work. Most recent engineering work included developing TUNE's data loader for batch-loading CSVs & Parquet files from S3 into Snowflake's SaaS database platform and doing the initial POC work to deploy Apache Airflow in Docker for custom ETL/aggregation jobs.

As TUNE's first DBA, I focused on administering, scaling and tuning a large, distributed MySQL infrastructure, replicated across the world to different AWS regions. I was responsible for supporting both the OLTP and OLAP/Reporting workloads that powered TUNEs SaaS products, with a growing toolbox of database technologies (Infobright, InfiniDB, Redshift).We were able to grow from the original 4 MySQL instances, to over 100 within 2 years, all in AWS. We used a combination of Puppet, Python/Boto and native MySQL replication to create, manage and deploy EC2 instances.Other large projects included migrating customer reporting data from MySQL to a column store (Infobright), full online migration of 100+ servers from MySQL 5.5 to MySQL 5.6, developing and implementing MySQL failover & load balancing framework using HAProxy, and writing the Python code used to take live, consistent EBS snapshots of running MySQL instances as part of a distributed disaster recovery plan.
