Since even before one long summer paid for an old used desktop computer, and allowed me to author my first primitive lines of BASIC, I was in awe of the power of modern computing. My realization of the complexity which could be constructed by a single individual, with minimal resources, left me overwhelmed. Although I ultimately studied Physics at university, I still learned a lot about software development in that time. A modern scientific education relies heavily on software for modeling physical processes, not to mention that computing was literally born out of advances in Physics and Mathematics. During and after graduate school, I held several more traditional types of engineering positions, and all of them required some level of proficiency in software development which continued to hone my skills. Eventually, I came to realize that I wanted to develop software exclusively.After founding my second company, Leonard Labs, and publishing my first Android application on the Google Play Store, I decided to accept a full-time position at Topbox through an apprenticeship program sponsored by the non-profit Launchcode. Later, when Topbox was acquired by Khoros, I stayed on and continued developing. After learning a ton at both of those positions, I'm now open to exploring new opportunities. While my past experience has been relatively diverse, the desire to apply my knowledge, creativity, and intuition to challenging problems has always been a common theme. Furthermore, I’ve demonstrated that I'm as comfortable leading soldiers in the field as conducting research and development in a lab.
